I admit I thought this months Low Buy Year 2019 Update would be much worse than it actually turned out to be. You might know that I am a huge Game of Thrones fan (I even read all the books before anyone ever thought about turning it into a series, and believe me, while the series is great, the books are epic!). And you might also know that last month Urban Decay released a huge Game of Thrones Collection.
I was determined to buy all of it. Well, not all of it, but three of the lipsticks and the eyeshadow palette. I even set a timer on my phone! But when the release time arrived, the kids needed my immediate, undivided attention for a discussion on whether or not it was mandatory to wear pants when leaving the house (or maybe if it was okay to eat chocolate before breakfast, something along those lines), and when I finally remembered why my phone had been pinging for the better part of an hour downstairs, everything was sold out.
Everything.
And as I made a vow many years ago, NEVER to buy LE items for three times their original price from eBay again (don´t ask), that drastically reduced the amount of money spend on beauty for the month of April.
I didn´t go completely without a purchase though. When I ran out of my beloved Zelens Power D Treatment Drops (I featured them in my latest Empties video), I knew I couldn´t let too much time pass before repurchasing, and when Siobhán from Beautylymin gave me a heads up that there was a promotion around it on Cult Beauty, I couldn´t resist.
Paired with another promo code I had I got not only the Zelens Power D Treatment Drops (Read my full review here) but also three travel size items (Z Pure Cleansing Liquid Balm, 3T Complex Essential Anti-Aging Cream, Transformer Instant Renewal Mask) and a full size of the Zelens PHA Bio-Peel Resurfacing Facial Pads.
Which means my spending was much less than anticipated!
Total amount of money spent on beauty in April: 113 €
But that doesn´t mean that I have nothing else to share here, no. April marked a very exciting opportunity in terms of PR: Murad Skincare, a US skincare brand I have long admired from afar, finally became available in Germany, exclusively to Douglas. I was lucky enough to receive a package filled with exciting products (I already gave you an overview here).
I admit I had all of the products on my “To Buy” list, so all of them will count against my Beauty Low Buy for April 2019.
And that brings my beauty „expenses“ up quite high
Total amount of money saved because of PR in April: 395 €
Oops.
And, not counting against my Low Buy, but definitely worth a mention: My belated birthday present by Beauty Drama Queen (do you follow her on Instagram already?). Filled with skincare, makeup (yay for more red lipsticks) and a new foundation to play with, it is safe to say I was spoiled rotten by my lovely friend.
Again, just one repurchase I made, but I can´t help but wonder how good I would be at this Low Buy thing if I wasn´t sent PR? After all I received enough to keep me testing for the whole of 2019 already, making not buying shiny new things myself much easier!
Are you still on a Low Buy?
