Can the Timeless Matrixyl 3000 HA Serum actually get rid of deep wrinkles is a question I found online when looking for others peoples experiences. Well, if you have been around here for a while, you know the answer to that: No. It certainly can’t, and no serum will ever be able to do that, as deep wrinkles are structural changes in the skin topical products won’t be able to address.

What it might be able to do though is improve fine lines and soften wrinkles, helping with the overall appearance of your skin as you age, so let’s look at ingredients, performance on the skin and the skin types it is best for in todays review.

How to use the Timeless Matrixyl 3000 HA Serum

Peptides can be used morning or night and paired with basically any other product you have in your routine, as their irritation potential is low. (More info: Which skincare products can you combine?) You might have read online that you shouldn’t use them and acids in the same routine as they work best while in an alkaline environment, but to be honest, I don’t think applying a layer of acids will change your naturally acidic skin pH by much, so if you don’t mix them in your hand before application and maybe wait a few minutes for the first thing to absorb, that shouldn’t be much of a problem. Just put the serum wherever in your routine it fits best.

You could of course also use it twice a day, but if that will give more benefits – I don’t know, once should be enough.

I like using serums with Hyaluronic Acid in the mornings so my skin looks as plump as possible during the day – once the lights go off at night I care much less about plumpness and fine lines. As this one, compared to other HA serums I have tried, has basically no stickiness to it, I personally would put it in my morning routine.

If you are familiar with the world of peptides, you probably have heard of Matrixyl 3000, which is a complex of Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7 and Glycerin, Water, Butylene Glycol, Carbomer and Polysorbate 20. The Matrixyl Peptides have quite a bit of data on them, mostly done by their manufacturer, and aims to stimulate collagen production and at the same time reducing inflammation to prevent collagen breakdown. (More info: The benefits of peptides in skincare explained)

When you look at the ingredient list, the complex written out is the majority of it, on top there is only Hyaluronic Acid as humectant, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, a Vitamin C derivative that might assist in brightening and Dehydroacetic Acid, a preservative. Does it live up to its claims?

Yes.

It will assist in rebuilding the skin structure. Will it give visible changes though? I wouldn’t expect any skincare to get rid of wrinkles that have already formed, but I believe it will help prevent the formation of new ones in the long run.

How does it compare to…

Geek and Gorgeous Power Peptides

Power Peptides is an option with several different peptides combined, including the Matrixyl Complex, but also with Copper Peptides and a few lesser known ones thrown into the mix. I actually prefer the Geek and Gorgeous version although it has more tackiness than the Timeless one.

The Ordinary Buffet Serum

I know that The Ordinary have a Matrixyl Serum, but I don’t own it so I can’t really compare them. The Ordinary Buffet is again a variety of peptides combined including the Matrixyl 3000 one and Matrixyl Synthe´6 that is present in the other offer from Timeless. I much prefer bends of peptides over single ingredient ones, but have to say that Timeless has the nicer texture.

Would I repurchase and which skin types do I recommend the Timeless Matrixyl 3000 HA Serum to?

I really enjoy the Timeless Matrixyl 3000 HA serum, it falls in the category of hydrating serum with extra benefits I like to layer with my hard working actives during the year. If you want peptides in a lovely formulation, it is ideal for you and should work for all skin types, although people under the age of 30 probably could do with just a hydrating serum without added peptides, especially as this one is a midrange option pricewise. Still it is one I enjoy and recommend.
